Kyutaro and Yasuo Abiko Memorial Scholarship provides financial assistance for college to student members of the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL), especially those majoring in journalism or agriculture.

Requirements

This program is open to JACL members who are currently enrolled at a college, university, trade school, business college, or other institution of higher learning.

Applicants must submit information on their involvement in JACL and a 2page essay on a topic that changes annually but relates to Japanese Americans.

Selection is based on that essay, academic history, JACL involvement, school activities, work history, scholastic honors, and community involvement.

Preference is given to students majoring in journalism or agriculture.
