About the Scholarship
Opens: 12/1/2024
Closes: 2/1/2025
Mamoru and Aiko Takitani Foundation Scholarship provides financial assistance to needy high school seniors in Hawaii who plan to attend college in any state.
This program is open to seniors graduating from high schools in Hawaii and planning to attend a college, university, community college, or trade school in any state.
Applicants must prepare a 500word essay describing their personal goals and how this scholarship would help them attain those, how their plans will benefit Hawaii and its community after graduation, and any financial or related circumstances that the sponsor should consider.
They must submit that essay and other application materials to the college counselor or senior adviser at their high school.
Selection is based on academic achievement, the qualities of hard work, commitment to excellence, proven dedication to the community, and financial need.
Each school selects its winner.
From among those, 10 finalists are selected (1 from each of the 7 school districts, 1 from the Hawaii Catholic Schools, and 2 from the Hawaii Association of Independent Schools).
From among those finalists, the sponsor's board of directors selects the top scholarship awardees.
