The Matthew Carter Scholarship is offered to Black and African American degree-seeking college undergraduates as well as students attending a technical or trade school in Florida. Applicants who are attending a college or university must be seeking a bachelor's degree business, finance, science, social sciences, math, health, health management, art, or humanities. Residents of Manatee and Sarasota counties in Florida are welcome to apply, provided they prove leadership qualities through community service, extracurricular activities, or work.

  • Undergraduate student pursuing a bachelor's degree at a 4year college or university; **OR**
  • Pursuing a professional certification at a technical or trade school

  • Minimum 2.00 GPA if attending a technical or trade school
  • Studying in business, finance, science, social sciences, math, health, health management, art, or humanities if attending a college or university
  • Resident of Manatee or Sarasota counties, Florida
  • U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or U.S. national
  • Participation in community service, extracurricular activities, work, or leadership
  • Demonstrate financial need
