Maureen O'Donnell Scholarship for Academic Excellence recognizes and rewards, with college scholarships, high school seniors who achieve high scores on the National Latin Examination.

Requirements
  • Any high school student who is enrolled or has completed a Latin course during the current academic year may take the National Latin Examination.
  • The examinations consist of 40 multiple choice questions on comprehension, grammar, historical background, classical literature, and literary devices.
  • The gold medal winners on the Advanced Latin Prose Exam, the Advanced Latin Poetry Exam, and the Advanced Latin Reading Comprehension Exam who are high school seniors are invited to apply for these scholarships.
  • The school the student attends must obtain the examinations and administer them to all students within the same class period during the second full week of March. The cost is $6 per student. Scholarship recipients must agree to take at least 1 year of Latin or classical Greek in their first year of college.
