Michigan Elks Association Gold Key Scholarship provides financial assistance to "special needs" students in Michigan who plan to attend college in any state.

Requirements
  • This program is open to "special needs" students who are Michigan residents.
  • For the purposes of this program, "special needs" students are defined as those who are physically or mentally challenged.
  • Applicants must be high school seniors and planning to attend an accredited college, university, trade school, or vocational school in any state.
  • They must submit a statement on the nature and degree of their "special needs;" the school they have chosen to attend and why; their educational and career goals; how they anticipate financing school; the special equipment, devices, and/or supportive services they require; and their extracurricular activities, interests, and/or hobbies.
  • Other required submissions include high school transcripts, a 200word letter from their parent describing the family financial situation and the student's need for assistance, 3 letters of recommendation, and verification of "special needs" from a doctor.
  • Sponsorship by a local Elks lodge is required.
