NJ State Thespian Senior Performance Scholarship provides financial assistance to high school seniors in New Jersey who have demonstrated excellence in theatrical performance and plan to attend college in any state.

Requirements

This program is open to students who have been enrolled as seniors at a New Jersey high school for at least 1 year and plan to attend a college or university in any state with a major or minor in the performing or communication arts (e.g., theater, film, communications, radio or television broadcasting, vocal or instrumental music, dance).

Applicants must be members of the International Thespian Society.

They must register to audition at the New Jersey Thespian Festival where they present a 2part performance of up to 3 minutes: first, a monologue from a published play; and second a contrasting monologue from a published play, a dance routine, or a musical selection.

Following their audition, they participate in a personal interview with the judging committee.

Selection is based on the audition (60%), the interview (20%), and a resume of thespian activities (20%).
