Northern California COMTO Future of Transportation Scholarship provides financial assistance to minority undergraduates who reside or attend college in northern California and are preparing for a career in transportation.

Requirements
  • This program is open to undergraduates who are members of a racial minority group (African American, African, Latinx, Middle Eastern, Asian, Native American, and Pacific Islander) who are U.S. citizens.
  • Applicants must be at least sophomores with a GPA of 2.5 or higher and working full time on a degree in a field that will prepare them for a career in transportation, including broad areas of engineering (civil, construction, electrical, environmental, mechanical), social sciences (prelaw, political science), business (communication, economics, public health, public policy, information technology), or urban planning and design.
  • They must reside or attend school in the San Francisco Bay or Sacramento areas of California (defined as the counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, El Dorado, Marin, Napa, Placer, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Joaquin, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, Sonoma, Stanislaus, Sutter, and Yolo).
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Recipients are required to become student members of the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO). Dues are deducted from the scholarship award.
