Open Format Gunlogson Environmental Design Student Competition Scholarship recognizes and rewards student members of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) who participate in the design of an engineering project that focuses on environmental and biological elements.

Requirements

This competition is open to undergraduate student members of the society who design a relevant engineering product for an environmental or biological application.

Designs may reflect a wide spectrum of approaches ranging from management practice development to equipment design to bioreactor or ecological system design.

Students first submit a written design report, up to 15 pages in length, that describes the design, as well as extensive or substantial test or performance data obtained from (1) a prototype or physical model of the machine or critical component, and/or (2) a computer simulated test of the system or process.

Based on those reports, 3 finalists are invited to the Annual International Meeting (AIM) of the ASABE where they make an oral presentation about their project.
