Permian Basin Section SPE Scholarship provides financial assistance to students, especially those with ties to the Permian Basin of Texas and to the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), who are working on degrees in petroleum engineering.

Requirements

This program is open to students preparing for a career in the oil and gas industry.

Preference is given to 1) undergraduates, although graduate students may also be considered; 2) students whose hometown is in the Permian Basin of western Texas; 3) children and grandchildren of members of the SPE Permian Basin Section; 4) members of the SPE chapter at Texas Tech University or the University of Texas at Permian Basin, and 5) current recipients seeking renewal.

Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and fulltime enrollment.

Those who demonstrate outstanding achievement in designated areas receive Distinguished Scholarships.

The applicant judged most outstanding receives the Ed Runyan Presidential Scholarship.
