The Pritchard-Johnson Grit Scholarship is awarded to graduating seniors from Thurston High School in Redford, Michigan. Students who are planning to pursue a course of study in helping careers such as education, psychology, counseling, ministry, or social work are encouraged to apply. Special consideration is given to students who have had to overcome obstacles.

Requirements
  • Minimum 2.50 GPA

  • Seeking a professional certification, associate, or bachelor's degree
  • Pursuing a course of study in education, psychology, counseling, ministry, or social work
  • Fulltime student
  • Planning to attend school in the U.S.
  • Participation in extracurricular activities or leadership
  • Demonstrate financial need Dependents of employees of the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan and members of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation are ineligible for this scholarship. Preference is given to students who have had to overcome obstacles or other atrisk factors to persist and show “grit” in their accomplishments.
