The Program in Early American Economy and Society Short-Term Fellowship provides funding to dissertation, postdoctoral, and independent scholars conducting advanced research in U.S. history and the early American economy. Students who conduct one month of research in residence at the Library Company of Philadelphia and/or the Historical Society of Pennsylvania are eligible to apply.

Requirements
  • Resident of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
  • Graduate student, doctoral candidate, postdoctoral student, or independent researcher
  • Studying the history of early American economics, society, or a related field
  • Conducting advanced research on U.S. history in its Atlantic world context from the 17th through 19th centuries, MidAtlantic regional history, or the origins and development of the early American economy through approximately 1850, including topics such as commerce, finance, technology, manufacturing, agriculture, internal improvements, and economic policymaking
