The RADM James G. Prout III Memorial Scholarship is awarded to the children or spouses of current and past Navy sailors from the San Diego region of California. Students who have participated in extracurricular activities and demonstrate financial need are welcome to apply.

Requirements
  • Child or spouse of a U.S. Navy sailor who is on active duty, retired, or honorably discharged
  • Service member must have a Surface Warfare qualification and served 6 years on active duty under the administrative control of Commander Naval Surface Forces, U.S. Atlantic or Pacific Fleet
  • Seeking an associate or bachelor's degree (spouses may also be seeking a graduate degree)
  • Resident of the San Diego region in California
  • Children must be aged 22 or younger
  • Children must be enrolled full time; spouses may be full or part-time
  • Exhibit merit through academic performance and character
  • Participate in extracurricular activities
  • Demonstrate financial need
