About the Scholarship

The RARE Scholars Program is available to high school seniors, graduates, undergraduates, or graduate students who are diagnosed with achondroplasia, Batten disease, any form of mucopolysaccharidoses, or are a parent/legal guardian of a child with one of these conditions. Students who demonstrate leadership in extracurriculars and community activities are welcome to apply.

Requirements
  • Diagnosed with achondroplasia, Batten disease, any form of mucopolysaccharidoses (MPS), or phenylketonuria (PKU), **OR**
  • Parent/legal guardian of a child/individual diagnosed with one of the these conditions
  • Minimum 3.00 GPA
  • Resident of the U.S.
  • High school senior, graduate, undergraduate, or graduate student
  • Seeking a professional certification, associate, bachelor's, or graduate degree fulltime
  • Participation in community service, extracurricular activities, leadership, or work
  • Have unusual personal or family circumstances
