Sayler-Barbour Scholarship provides financial assistance to residents of Kansas, especially those with ties to the Society of Mayflower Descendants in the State of Kansas, who are interested in attending college in any state.

Requirements

This program is open to residents of Kansas who are graduating high school seniors, high school graduates desiring to return to school for additional training, or students currently enrolled in college.

Applicants must be enrolled or planning to enroll at a college, university, community college, junior college, or technical school in any state.

They must be able to verify that an ancestor was a passenger on the Mayflower through a relative who is a current or former member of the Society or a senior member of the Society.

Selection is based on that essay (organization15%, accuracy of facts 20%, grammar-15%, spelling-15%), preparation and submission of the application (5%), academic achievement (15%), references (10%), and a paragraph on how this award will help them attain their career goals (5%).

U.S. citizenship is required.
