The SDIAS Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship for AVID Students is available to graduating high school seniors from San Diego County, California who have participated in the AVID college readiness program. First-generation college students who will be seeking an associate or bachelor's degree in a STEM field or any of the social sciences are encouraged to apply. Special consideration is given to students who participate in extracurricular activities, community service, or work.

Requirements
  • Minimum 3.5 GPA
  • Graduating high school senior from San Diego County, California
  • Complete 2 or more AP/IB courses and exams and/or receive credit for dual enrollment
  • Seeking an associate or bachelor's degree in a STEM field or other social science in the U.S.
  • Firstgeneration college student
  • Participate in the AVID college readiness program for at least 2 years
  • Demonstrate financial need Preference is given to students who participate in extracurricular activities, community service, or work.
