The SDIAS Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship for AVID Students is available to graduating high school seniors from San Diego County, California who have participated in the AVID college readiness program. First-generation college students who will be seeking an associate or bachelor's degree in a STEM field or any of the social sciences are encouraged to apply. Special consideration is given to students who participate in extracurricular activities, community service, or work.

  • Minimum 3.50 GPA
  • Resident of San Diego County, California
  • Attend a high school in San Diego County, California
  • High school senior
  • Seeking an associate or bachelor's degree
  • Studying in a STEM field or other social science
  • Participate in the AVID program in San Diego County high schools for a minimum of two years and complete 2 or more AP/IB courses and exams, and/or receive credit for dual enrollment
  • Firstgeneration college student
  • Demonstrate financial need Preference is given to students who participate in extracurricular activities, community service, or work.
