SDTA Memorial Scholarship provides financial assistance to the families of subscribers of member companies of the South Dakota Telecommunications Association (SDTA) who are studying fields related to the communications and broadband industry at colleges in the state.

Requirements
  • This program is open to students whose family is a subscribers of an SDTA member company and who are entering or enrolled full-time at an accredited postsecondary school in South Dakota.
  • Applicants must be majoring in fields relevant to the communications and broadband industry, including, but not limited to, telecommunications; WiFi and broadband technologies; information systems technology; satellite Communications; health information technology; office technology specialist; programming specialist; network specialist; engineering (computer Science or systems, electrical, CAD, software, industrial, communications systems, network security); technologies or computers (communications systems engineering technologies, computer programming, computer software specialist, computer systems or software, computer applications, utility technologies, network technician, Internet apps developer, laser/electrooptics, marketing, network administration, system administrator); technology education; or communication arts (graphic design or mass communications, commercial arts, pr multimedia/web development.) Along with their application, they must submit brief essays on 1) their current area of study and the role telecommunications will play in their future plans and goals; 2) the community service, leadership development, or other personal growth activities in which they participate; 3) the personal habits, traits, or characteristics will help them excel in their intended career or profession; and 4) their vision of the role that high-speed broadband services can play in assisting those who reside and work in rural areas.
