About the Scholarship

The Sheldon E. and Joan S. Smith Scholarship for Public Service is awarded to junior or senior students at the University of Massachusetts Amherst pursuing a degree in political science. Students planning to pursue a career in public service at the federal, state, or local level are encouraged to apply. Special consideration is given to those actively involved in volunteer work at the university or in their community, and who have a strong interest in public policy.
