The Skip Thavenet Scholarship supports residents of the 42-town service area in Connecticut, as well as those in Charlestown, Hopkinton, Richmond, and Westerly, Rhode Island. Students pursuing a certification or an associate degree in a technical trade are welcome to apply. Those studying for a degree in the industrial arts (welding, manufacturing, construction management, and industrial engineering), as well as pursuing a career as a professional hairdresser, receive special consideration. Additional consideration is given to students from Stonington and North Stonington, Connecticut, and the Rhode Island towns of Westerly, Charlestown, Richmond, and Hopkinton.

  • Resident of the 42 town service area in Connecticut, as well as the towns of Westerly, Charlestown, Richmond, and Hopkinton, Rhode Island
  • High school senior or community college student
  • Seeking a professional certification or associate degree
  • Studying a trade in a technical field or as a professional hairdresser Preference is given to students pursuing industrial arts (including welding, manufacturing, construction management, and industrial engineering) as well as those pursuing careers as professional hairdressers. Additional consideration is given to students from Westerly, Charlestown, Richmond, and Hopkins, Rhode Island.
