SMUD Powering Futures Scholarship provides financial assistance to residents of the service area of the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) in California who are interested in attending college in any state, especially those planning to major in a field of science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM).

Requirements
  • This program is open to residents of the SMUD service area (essentially all of Sacramento County) who are high school seniors, GED certificate holders, or students currently enrolled at a 2- or 4-year college or university in any state.
  • Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Preference is given to students interested in majoring in a field of STEM. Selection is based on academic achievement, essays, community involvement, and financial need.
