Society of Mayflower Descendants in Michigan Scholarship recognizes and rewards, with college scholarships, members of the Society of Mayflower Descendants in Michigan (SMDM) who submit outstanding papers on topics related to the Pilgrims.

Requirements

This competition is open to junior members up to 26 years of age the SMDM. Applicants must submit an essay of 750 to 1,000 on a topic that changes annually but relates to the Pilgrims; recently, students were asked to write on the hardships their ancestors endured during the establishment of Plymouth Colony.

They must be attending or planning to attend an accredited 2 or 4-year college or university.

They must also submit a paragraph explaining how being awarded this scholarship will help them attain their career goals.
