St. Andrews Society of Maine Scholarship provides financial assistance to residents of any state who are interested in studying Scottish culture or perpetuating their Scottish heritage at locations in the United States, Canada, or Scotland.

Requirements
  • This program is open to everybody regardless of their place of residence, national origin, race, creed, or gender.
  • Preference is given to members of the St.
  • Andrews Society of Maine and their children, volunteers who have worked at the Maine Highland Games, and participants in events sponsored by the society.
  • Applicants must be seeking funding for 1) studies of Scottish culture (dance, music, language), history, archaeology, or industry (kiltmaking, weaving, etc.); 2) academic studies in courses reflecting Scottish heritage, which will be needed or used to perpetuate Scottish culture; or 3) individual attendance at workshops.
  • For the larger awards (the Rev.
  • Harold McElwain Scholarship and the Carl Farnham Scholarship), applicants must submit a short essay describing how the scholarship will be used to further goals that perpetuate Scottish heritage in Maine and may be requested to attend a personal interview.
