Requirements
  • This program is open to residents of Texas who 1) are between 16 and 21 years of age, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and are attending a Texas public or private college that provides a bachelor's degree or not less than a 2-year program that provides credit toward an associate degree or certificate; 2) are beyond the age of compulsory school attendance (age 18) and are attending an accredited or pre-accredited program that provides not less than 1 year of training toward gainful employment; 3) are in foster care of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (TDFPS), are at least 16 years of age, and are likely to remain in foster care until turning 18; 4) have aged out of TDFPS foster care but have not yet turned 21; or 5) are adopted from TDFPS foster care after turning 16 years of age but are not yet 21.
  • Applicants must be attending or planning to attend a Texas public or private educational institution that is accredited or granted preaccredited status.
