Betty B. Louie established and funded The Kim and Harold Louie Family Foundation in December 2005 because of her desire to honor the memory of her parents. Applicants should demonstrate outstanding personal achievements, academic merit, leadership qualities and/or community service. Those whose parents are U.S. veterans or who are currently in the U.S. military, those with demonstrated financial need, and those who are first-generation college students receive special consideration.

Requirements
  • Minimum 3.7 GPA
  • Minimum SAT score of 1300 or minimum ACT score of 27
  • Freshman in the upcoming academic year, and anticipate enrolling at a U.S. college/university
  • May have taken a gap year after high school graduation
  • Enroll fulltime or substantial part-time
  • Demonstrate financial need Preference is given to those whose parents are U.S. veterans or who are currently in the U.S. military, those with demonstrated financial need, and those who are firstgeneration college students
