The M.E. Bacon KS ‘72 Uncle Herb and Kupuna Lehua Lee-Loy Weatherwax Aloha ʻAina Scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in a technical, vocational, or certificate program. Students pursuing a certificate in the environment, agriculture, or oceanography of Hawai'i or the Hawaiian language, culture, and history are encouraged to apply. Residents of Kalapana, Hawai'i receive first consideration. Residents of Hilo, Hawai'i and students who want to become Mahi'ai (farmers) also receive special consideration. It is also the policy of the Foundation to give preference to students of Hawaiian ancestry to the extent permitted by law.

  • Seeking a professional certification in the environment, agriculture, or oceanography of Hawaii or the Hawaiian language, history, or culture
  • Full or parttime student
  • Participation in community service or extracurricular activities Preference is given to students of Hawaiian ancestry to the extent permitted by law; residents of Kalapana or Hilo, Hawaii; and students who want to become a farmer
