The Thomas-Lain Scholarship is available to students in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Illinois who participate in an essay competition. Students seeking a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering are eligible to apply. Special consideration is given to qualified students who have been disproportionately affected by systemic barriers to educational achievement or who have faced social, economic, or educational barriers due to systemic gender inequity, and who reside outside of the State of Illinois.
