Thomas R. Garrett Memorial Scholarship recognizes and rewards, with college scholarships, high school seniors who submit outstanding essays on great players in the Negro Baseball League.

Requirements

This competition is open to high school seniors who have a GPA of 2.5 or higher and plans to enroll in a degree program at an accredited U.S. postsecondary institution.

Applicant must submit an essay, up to 1,200 words in length, on any of 4 players who were significant in Negro Baseball League history.

In addition to the essay, the selection is based on high school and community activities.
