Toshiaki Yoshimura Scholarship provides financial assistance to high school seniors of Japanese descent in the Denver metropolitan area who demonstrate independent thought and plan to attend college in any state.

Requirements
  • This program is open to graduating high school seniors 1) residing in the Denver metropolitan area who are either American citizens of Japanese ancestry or an American citizen whose legal parents are of Japanese ancestry, or 2) of Japanese ancestry residing in the Denver metropolitan area and have permanent residence status (green card) in the United States; or 3) who have a parent who is an active member of Mile High Chapter of Japanese American Citizens League (JACL), Japanese American Association of Colorado, Nisei Veterans' Heritage Foundation, Simpson United Method Church, Tri-State/Denver Buddhist Temple, Denver Nisei Bowling Association, Brighton Japanese American Association, Japan Firms Association of Colorado, Sakura Foundation, Longmont Buddhist Temple, or Fort Lupton JACL. Applicants must be planning to attend a college or university in any state.
  • They must be able to demonstrate the qualities of the scholarship's namesake who valued independent thought and personal responsibility for one's own decisions.
  • The award is presented to a student who displays superior scholastic ability, integrity, and contribution to the community.
