The Trooper Ponder Memorial Scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors from Hardin or Meade counties in Kentucky. Applications are reviewed for academic performance and other additional requirements related to their parents or their qualifications. Students pursuing a career in criminal justice or law enforcement receive special consideration.

Requirements
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Graduating high school senior residing and attending school in Hardin or Meade counties, Kentucky
  • Seeking a professional certification, associate, or bachelor’s degree Applicants must meet three or more of the requirements below:
  • Minimum 3.0 academic rating
  • Parent/guardian is an active duty military member, a veteran with an honorable discharge, or was killedin-action
  • Parent/guardian is a current or retired fulltime police officer or fell to the line of duty death
  • Plans to enlist as an active duty service member in the military
  • Completed a minimum of 10 hours of community service
  • Competed for at least three years in baseball, football, and/or track/field Preference is given to students pursuing criminal justice or law enforcement areas of study.
