The Tuition and Fee Exemption – Children of Purple Heart Recipients program is available to residents of Indiana whose parent received a purple heart, or was wounded and received an honorable discharge. Students who are planning to pursue a professional certificate, associate, bachelor's, graduate, or professional degree at any public institution in Indiana are welcome to apply.

Requirements
  • Child of a U.S Armed Forces member and Indiana resident who received the purple heart, or was wounded as a result of enemy action and honorably discharged
  • Aged 32 or younger (at the time of application)
  • Resident of Indiana
  • Seeking a professional certification, associate, bachelor's, graduate, law, medical degree, or Ph.D from one of the eligible colleges in Indiana
  • Maintain satisfactory progress
  • U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or permanent resident
  • Does not have a disqualifying drug conviction while using federal student aid
  • Registered with the Selective Service System (if applicable)
  • Is not in default on any federal student loans or owe repayment of federal student aid
  • Not be incarcerated in any federal or Indiana correctional facilities
