Virginia Thespian Scholarship provides financial assistance to high school seniors in Virginia who are interested in attending college in any state to study performance, technical theater, or theater education.

Requirements

This program is open to seniors graduating from high schools in Virginia who have been active in their thespian troupe.

Applicants must be registered to attend the Virginia State Thespian Conference.

They must be planning to attend a college or university in any state.

Students interested in the performance category must present a 2minute audition, consisting of 2 contrasting monologues of 1-minute each, a 2-minute monologue, or a 1-minute musical audition and a 1-minute monologue.

Students interested in the technical category must speak for 5 minutes on a prepared portfolio of designs and sketches that illustrate their technical expertise.

Students interested in the theater education category speak for 5 minutes on situations or experiences where they had an opportunity to teach and why they want to become a theater educator.

Selection is based on the audition or presentation (60%), thespian activities (25%), and recommendations (15%).
