William C. Johnson Distinguished Scholarship provides financial assistance to undergraduate and graduate student members of Sigma Tau Delta (the international English honor society) who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement.

Requirements
  • This program is open to members of the society who are currently enrolled full-time as undergraduate or graduate students.
  • Each chapter may nominate 3 active members for this scholarship.
  • Nominees must explain the relevance of their program of study to fostering the discipline of English, including literature, language, writing, and literacy.
  • They must also submit a sample paper they originally presented as coursework with endorsement from the professor for whom the paper was written.
  • In the selection process, emphasis is placed on academic excellence and service to the campus, community, and chapter; financial need is not considered.
