The Women’s Independence Scholarship is available to female survivors of intimate partner abuse who demonstrate financial need. Applicants who have been physically separated from their abuser for more than 1 year, but not more than 7 years, and have sought services from a non-profit agency for a minimum of 6 months will be considered. Scholarship recipients will be expected to work towards training or a degree in the U.S. Special consideration will be given to returning WISP students, single mothers with young children, students seeking their first undergraduate degree, or those in a vocational/technical program.

Requirements

  • Survivor of intimate partner abuse
  • Physically separate from the abuser for at least 1 year, but not more than 7 years
  • Sought services from a nonprofit agency for a minimum of 6 months

  • U.S. citizen, permanent resident, FAFSA eligible
  • Seeking a professional certification, associate, bachelor's, or graduate degree in the U.S.
