Requirements
  • This contest is open to seniors graduating from high schools in Connecticut and planning to attend college in any state.
  • Applicants must submit an essay, up to 1,000 words in length, on 1 of the following topics: 1) a workplace hazard that they or a friend fact in parttime work, how it affects them or their friend, and what would be needed to correct the unsafe conditions; 2) how workers and their unions achieved worker protections in the past; or 3) the importance of organized labor to protecting worker safety.
