Spring break is around the corner, and it’s a great time to visit colleges if you can! We’re here to answer your questions and help you make the most of your visit. College will be your home away from home, so this is your opportunity to get a firsthand view of campus to help you decide if it’s the right fit. John McLaughlin
Vice President for Enrollment and Dean of Admission, Hamilton College

John McLaughlin is Vice President for Enrollment and Dean of Admission at Hamilton College, a selective liberal arts college in Clinton, NY. John has worked in college admissions for nearly 20 years as a professional and scholar. Prior to joining Hamilton, John served as Vice Dean, Director of Admissions at the University of Pennsylvania. His research on college admissions has been featured in trade and peer-reviewed publications. John received his BA degree from Penn, a masters degree from the University of Oxford, and his doctorate in higher education from Harvard University. John loves engaging with bright young people and sharing information on the transformative impact of higher education.

Karly Brockett
Senior Associate Director, UCLA

Karly Brocket is the Senior Associate Director of Marketing, Communications and Staff Development in the Undergraduate Admission department at UCLA. Prior to arriving to UCLA, she served as Director of Higher Ed Services for College Board where she worked with a number of enrollment offices at institutions in the Western Region for five years. She also spent two years as a Co-Director of College Counseling at Marymount High School in Los Angeles, CA. In addition to her current role at UCLA, Karly has also worked in admission at the California Institute of Technology, Trinity University in San Antonio, TX, and at her alma mater, DePauw University in Greencastle, IN. She is currently a WACAC President-Elect. In addition to her B.A. in History from DePauw University she also has a M.A. in Higher Education Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas in San Antonio.

Valerie Smith
Associate Director of Admission and Director of Visitor Engagement, Northwestern University

Valerie is an Associate Director of Admission and the Director of Visitor Engagement at Northwestern University, where she oversees campus visit programming and digital engagement opportunities for prospective students and works closely with students across the west coast during the college search and application process. She has a MS in Higher Education Administration and Policy from Northwestern’s School of Education and Social Policy and a BA from Denison University.
