FAQ

What if a student's parent(s) completed their postsecondary education internationally? Does that impact their qualification for the first-generation award?

Regardless of where a parent(s) received their postsecondary education, a student does not qualify as first generation if one of their parents completed a bachelor's degree - within the United States or internationally. If a student lives with or is supported by only one parent, and that parent does not have a bachelor's degree, then they do qualify as first generation.
