Meet our Speakers:
Nina Glickman
Senior Director, Student Learning, Matriculate
Nina has worked in the educational field for over a decade as a high school teacher, a college advisor, a student support specialist, and in her current role as Senior Director of Student Learning at Matriculate. She is passionate about college access and supporting students, families, and peers to and through the college application process. Nina has a BA from Cornell University, an MFA from The New School, and an MS from CUNY Hunter College.
Norman McQueen
Principal, HCS Scholars Academy
With a distinguished career spanning over four decades in education, Norman McQueen has dedicated his life to nurturing academic excellence and holistic development in students. A former Middle School/High School Chorus Director and High School Assistant Principal, Mr. McQueen has served as the Principal of HCS Scholars Academy High School for the past 12 years. During his tenure, HCS Scholars Academy has been recognized as a premier high school known for its rigorous curriculum and commitment to gifted education and was named the number one high school in South Carolina for the 2023-2024 school year.
Throughout his career, Norman McQueen has championed the needs of highly gifted learners, ensuring they have access to accelerated learning paths and enriched academic experiences. Under his leadership, HCS Scholars Academy has become a model for how schools can challenge students intellectually while remaining attentive to their social-emotional growth. Mr. McQueen’s philosophy centers on the belief that high achievement and well-being are not mutually exclusive—that the whole child must be supported to truly thrive. This balanced approach has guided countless students toward success in Advanced Placement courses, higher education, and beyond. Norman McQueen currently serves on the College Board Southern Region Council and in his “spare time” is the Director of Music at First Methodist Church in Myrtle Beach.
