Financial Aid Quiz

This quiz provides an estimated range of your Student Aid Index (SAI), which helps colleges and schools determine how much federal financial aid you may qualify for.

Student Aid Index (SAI) has replaced the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) starting in the 2024-25 award year.

The Student Aid Index (SAI) is the eligibility index number that your college’s or career school’s financial aid office uses to determine how much federal aid you’re eligible to receive.

Using the Financial Aid Quiz will estimate your range of your Student Aid Index (SAI), by providing the following information:

  • Parental Household
  • Parent Income
  • Parent Assets
  • Student Finances

If you have a specific college in mind, you can get a more accurate estimate of your real cost by using the net price calculator on its website. Net price is the full cost of attendance minus the grants and scholarships you receive from the college. A college’s net price calculator uses the financial aid policies of that college to calculate its estimate. Learn more about net price.

This quiz is designed for use by students who live in, or are citizens of, the U.S. or Canada. Data must be entered in U.S. dollars. Most colleges and universities employ a formula to determine eligibility for students from outside the U.S. or Canada.
