Which Indigenous and native groups are eligible for recognition?
The National Indigenous Recognition Program celebrates the academic achievements of Native American, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander students. Native American or Alaska Native refers to someone having origins in any of the original peoples in North, Central, and South America and who maintains tribal affiliation or community attachment. When submitting, Native American and Alaska Native students will be prompted to list the name of their federally or state-recognized tribal affiliation.
