Marietta College is one of the finest contemporary liberal arts colleges in the Midwest. With roots that trace back to 1797's Muskingum Academy, the College was granted a charter to confer degrees from the state of Ohio in 1835. Adding to Marietta's historical prominence is its designation as one of 37 Revolutionary Colleges and the 16th oldest chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the most esteemed honorary society in the country. What makes Marietta College a timeless institution is its dedication to offering students a contemporary liberal arts education in a residential setting, which creates an environment of learning that blends academics with co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Marietta's academic offerings are comprised of more than 50 majors - including the best liberal arts-based Petroleum Engineering program in the nation, a nationally-recognized Leadership program, an Education program that boasts a 100 percent job-placement rating and a Music program that is accredited through the National Association of Schools of Music. The College also offers graduate programs in Athletic Training, Physician Assistant Studies, Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Psychology. Over the course of four years, Marietta College students hone the skills necessary in their primary field of study, as well as develop strong communication and leadership skills.
