From the Institution

Rogers State University is a regional four-year university serving northeastern Oklahoma and the Tulsa metropolitan area. RSU is recognized for high-quality academic programs, a nurturing scholastic atmosphere, distance learning options, and a high-technology learning environment. The University was officially established in 1909 as Eastern University Preparatory School in Claremore two years after statehood and grew rapidly. It reformed as the Oklahoma Military Academy in 1919, and it has an impressive register of alumni with more than 2,500 graduates serving in the Armed Forces of the United States during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. Three U.S. presidents have visited our institution since its founding. In 1971, in response to growing educational needs in the region, the Oklahoma Legislature replaced the Oklahoma Military Academy with Claremore Junior College. The University opened its doors as a stand-alone, four-year university in 2000 and conferred its first baccalaureate degrees in 2002. Today Rogers State University is an established regional university broadly recognized for its strong academic programs, both face-to-face and online. From its main campus in Claremore, RSU remains the only public, four-year, residential university in the Tulsa metropolitan area, capable of offering freshman to graduate degree level coursework and degree programs. A majority of our students are first-generation college students and reflect the demographics of the communities we serve, with 30% of our students identifying as Native American or Native American and one other race. RSU offers a variety of master's, bachelor's and associate degrees to assist students in achieving their academic goals, as well as a vibrant campus life with student organizations to foster development inside and outside of the classroom. The university operates three full-service campuses in Claremore, Bartlesville, and Pryor. In addition, RSU provides innovative distance learning options for students through RSU Online, RSU Public Television, and other delivery methods.
