From the Institution

University of Bridgeport is a small, 4-year, private university located on a 56-acre waterfront campus on Long Island Sound in Bridgeport, Conn., 90 minutes from New York City. UB enrolls nearly 3,600 students across 68 programs at the associate, bachelor's, master's, doctoral, and certificate levels. Programs span healthcare, engineering, technology, business, education, and the social and behavioral sciences, with a sustained focus on career readiness and hands-on professional preparation. Founded in 1927, UB has a long history of innovating within the higher education landscape, expanding access to higher education, and creating academic programs that meet the needs of an evolving workforce. Today, students can choose from career-focused academic programs spanning business, engineering, education, health sciences, nursing, dental hygiene, artificial intelligence, criminal justice, psychology, and more. UB's 56-acre campus sits on Long Island Sound in Bridgeport, Conn., 90 minutes from New York City and just two hours from Boston, giving students proximity to two of the world's most active job markets from the first semester. UB's academic experience is centered around career readiness, hands-on learning, and personal support. An 11:1 student-to-faculty ratio means students work closely with faculty who bring deep professional expertise into the classroom and into their networks. Students gain practical experience through internships, labs, clinical opportunities, research, and community-based projects, and graduate prepared to pursue careers, advanced study, and professional licensure. UB's legacy of innovation is a core part of its identity - and the student experience. The University is home to the Fones School of Dental Hygiene, the first dental hygiene school in the world, as well as the nation's first university-based chiropractic program, and Connecticut's first master's degree in Artificial Intelligence. That same spirit continues today through programs and partnerships designed to connect students with emerging fields and real-world opportunities. This includes programs and internship experiences at the Innovation Center at Bauer Hall and the brand new Interdisciplinary Emerging Technologies (IET) Lab, and UB Consulting, a student-run firm that provides business consulting services to organizations across the region. UB is also committed to making college accessible. In the fall 2025, 99% of students received grant or scholarship aid, helping students and families invest in a university education with confidence. Students can explore merit scholarships, transfer scholarships, financial aid opportunities, and special programs designed to support affordability and access. Located at Bridgeport's Seaside Park, UB's campus sits on a waterfront vista with open green spaces and beachfront access in Connecticut's largest city - offering the energy of an urban campus with the community feel of a small university. Students study and enjoy leisure activities at the park, join clubs and organizations, compete in NCAA Division II athletics, and become part of a diverse community that welcomes students from across the region, the country, and more than 30 countries around the world. At UB, you'll find the people, programs, support, and opportunities to build your future with purpose.
