What is SRAR (Self-Reported Academic Record) and Why Do Some Colleges Require It?

When applying to certain colleges, you might come across the term SRAR (Self-Reported Academic Record. Some colleges require you to use the SRAR as part of your application process, which allows you to enter your academic history directly into their system rather than send official transcripts right away. This makes the process easier and faster, but only if a college specifically requires it.

How Does the SRAR Work?

Some colleges will ask you to create a SRAR account and input your high school courses and grades exactly as they appear on your transcript. This means you’ll need to be accurate and thorough when entering your GPA and any 12th-grade courses you’ve completed or are currently taking. You can use an unofficial transcript or online report card to help fill in the details. The SRAR may also give you the option to self-report your test scores from college entrance exams like the SAT, depending on what your university requires.

What’s the Difference Between SRAR and SSAR? 

There is no difference between the Self-Reported Academic Record (SRAR) and the Self-Reported Student Academic Record (SSAR). Before 2022, the SRAR and SSAR were different forms, the SSAR was used by Florida colleges and universities. The two accounts are the same now and the terms are used interchangeably. 

Linking the SRAR with the Common App

One helpful feature of the SRAR is its ability to integrate with the Common App, an online platform used by students to apply to multiple colleges and universities. By linking your SRAR account to your Common App account, you won’t have to reenter your academic information for each school. This saves you time and makes the application process a lot smoother.
