Southwest Baptist University is a Christ-centered, caring academic community preparing students to be servant leaders in a global society." This mission statement sums up what the goal is of the university. We are set apart by our drive to be Christian-minded in all that we do whether it be in the classroom, at sporting events, or hanging out in the student union. SBU is a place where students are challenged to grow spiritually and to seek out the truths that impact their lives. Assistance is available to students in many different ways which is what makes the university such a caring place for students to grow. There are services for academic help - including availability to professors, study session, the writing lab and more - as well as a health center, safety and security, and student activities. We want students to feel that their needs are met and that they are a part of a community that looks after them. The size of our university does not limit opportunities for academic achievement as well. Students are always taught by professors, not teaching or graduate assistants, allowing them access to the experts in the fields in which they are studying. As a liberal arts institution, each student must complete a set of general education courses that we believe helps give them a well-rounded foundation for their education, as well as experience for beyond their time at SBU. Lastly, we expect great things of our students. Alumni are serving all over the world in different capacities, making a difference in the communities that they are a part of and enjoying great success as a result of their time at SBU.
