From the Institution

The University of Puerto Rico at Arecibo (UPRA) was founded in 1967 as the Colegio Regional de Arecibo. It began operations in August of that same year with 515 students and a faculty of 28 professors. In 1974, the current facilities were inaugurated, located on a 50-acre property in Barrio Hato Abajo, Sector Hoyo Los Santos, Carretera 653, Km 0.8, Arecibo, Puerto Rico.
