Some of the world's brightest students attend Abilene Christian University, where they experience rigorous academic excellence among a welcoming community of passionate and motivated scholars. Home to more than 5,300 students from 42 nations, ACU is one of the best universities in the West for 2022, according to The Princeton Review, which also named its game design program one of the Top 50 in the world. The university is highest-ranking in Texas in the 2022 U.S. News & World Report benchmark on student success, achieving top 10 status in three categories: First-Year Experience, Learning Communities and Service Learning. ACU attracts top students through its Honors College, its internationally recognized engineering and physics department, and a robust mentoring program for future health professionals. Undergraduates can choose from 79 baccalaureate majors and 164 areas of study. The university also offers 35 master's and four doctoral degrees. Our 272-acre main campus is filled with green spaces, public art, world-class academic facilities and athletics venues, and a variety of on-campus dining and housing options, including a new freshman residence hall. With the support of our exceptional faculty, ACU fosters an environment where students can grow academically, experience learning in and out of the classroom, and thrive in community. A 14:1 student-faculty ratio allows students to develop close mentoring relationships with their professors. Ninety-two percent of tenured and tenure-track faculty hold the highest degrees available in their academic discipline. Research opportunities abound in modern laboratories, such as ACU's pioneering NEXT (Nuclear Energy eXperimental Testing) Lab, Halbert-Walling Research Center and Onstead Science Center. Whether exploring the use of molten salt as a coolant for nuclear reactors or studying food insecurity in urban areas, students of all disciplines engage in important research alongside faculty who are experts in their fields. Their curiosity and collaboration produce creative solutions to some of the world's most complex problems. Many ACU students participate in internships and other real-world experiences, allowing them to apply what they learn in the classroom. By working in a professional setting and applying knowledge through practice, students enhance their skills and competency. Ninety-six percent of our students are employed or enrolled in graduate or professional school six months after graduation.
