Francis Marion University is noted for its intimate academic community, affordability, and beautiful campus. Students enjoy easy access to faculty along with the opportunity to forge lasting bonds that shape both lives and careers. Faculty members regularly assist students with finding experiential learning opportunities, such as internships and undergraduate research. Education, Business, Psychology, and Biology are among the University's foundational programs. One of the most popular areas of academic interest is Nursing and the Health Sciences, which includes pre-professional programs; a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree; an Occupational Therapy Doctorate program; a Master of Science in Nursing degree with Family Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and Nurse Educator tracks; and a Master of Speech-Language Pathology degree. Additionally, FMU offers graduate degrees in Education, Business, and Psychology, including a Doctor of Psychology degree. FMU also offers a vibrant student life experience with over 60 clubs and organizations, as well as multiple on-campus activities throughout the year. It all takes place on FMU's beautiful campus, which includes the state-of-the-art Griffin Athletic Complex. FMU also has a strong presence in downtown Florence with its Performing Arts Center, Luther F. Carter Center for Health Sciences, Hugh and Jean Leatherman Medical Complex, University Place, and FMU Recording Studio. The Freshwater Ecology Center, with walking trails around a 20-acre spring fed lake, is also nearby. Students benefit from both domestic and international travel at FMU. Francis Marion currently has 12 partnerships that allow students to study on exchange for a full semester or participate in travel study opportunities.
