From the Institution
Francis Marion University is noted for its intimate academic community, affordability, and beautiful campus. Small classes are taught by faculty, not graduate students, and students enjoy easy access to these professors along with the opportunity to forge lasting bonds that shape both lives and careers. Faculty members regularly assist students with finding experiential learning opportunities, such as internships and undergraduate research. Education, Business, Psychology, and Biology are among the University's foundational programs. One of the most popular areas of academic interest is Nursing and the Health Sciences, which includes pre-professional programs, a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, a Master of Science in Nursing degree with Family Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and Nurse Educator tracks, and a Master of Speech Language Pathology degree. Additionally, FMU offers graduate degrees in Education, Business, and Psychology. FMU also offers a vibrant student life experience with over 50 clubs and organizations, as well as multiple on-campus activities throughout the year. It all takes place on the beautiful 468-acre main campus, which includes the state-of-the-art Griffin Athletic Complex. FMU also has a strong presence in downtown Florence with its Performing Arts Center, Luther F. Carter Center for Health Sciences, Hugh and Jean Leatherman Medical Complex, University Place, and FMU Recording Studio. The Freshwater Ecology Center, with walking trails around a 20-acre spring fed lake, is also nearby. Students benefit from both domestic and international travel at FMU. Francis Marion currently has exchange partnerships with ten universities around the globe and is expanding this list. There are also special international agreements with Wildsumaco Biological Station in Ecuador and European Academy Otzenhausen in Germany.
