From the Institution

High Point University is the Premier Life Skills University that works to transform the lives of its students through its commitment to providing an extraordinary education in an inspiring environment with caring people. Innovative educational initiatives like the President's First-Year Seminar on Life Skills, a required course for all entering freshmen led by HPU's president Dr. Nido Qubein, ensure students grow not only in specific academic areas of expertise but also develop competencies in communication, networking, coachability and service. These traits are among what HPU refers to as "Life Skills," which employers rank as the most critical skills necessary to succeed in the modern workplace. With 73 majors and 70 minors, HPU offers a broad spectrum of academic coursework, all complemented by experiential learning programs that include internships, undergraduate research as early as freshman year, global education and service learning. HPU's approach to life preparation is perhaps best showcased by the 99% placement rate for graduates employed or continuing their education within 180 days of graduating from HPU. By focusing holistically on each student's transformative educational journey, HPU attracts students from all 50 states and more than 50 countries. Driven by faithful courage, President Qubein continues to lead HPU through an extraordinary transformation. When he became president in 2005, he began a $2 billion transformation in academic programs and facilities that are now the finest in the nation. Highlights of HPU's growth under Dr. Qubein's leadership include a 277% increase in undergraduate enrollment, a 436% increase in graduate enrollment, a 471% increase in campus acreage, a 363% increase in faculty, and a 968% increase in the operating and capital budgets.
